When it comes to changing the sport of skiing as we know it, few companies can boast as much credit as Rossignol. With next season’s skis, Rossignol has really stepped up their game. We’re not going to sit here and tell you they’ve changed skiing forever, we’ll let you, the consumer, judge things for yourself.

What we can tell you is that the new models we have in, the Soul 7 and the Experience 88, have combined all the elements you love from Rossignol skis and added a good bit more for the upcoming season. They start with Rossignol’s Air Tip that concentrates ski mass underfoot, allowing for really light swing weight and easy maneuverability. The lightweight tips more naturally stay above the snow surface, forcing you to do less work when conditions are less than ideal. This translates to much quicker reaction time and less fatigue over the course of the day.

Where the Soul 7 and Experience 88 differ, other than waist width, is in the type of rocker. The Soul 7 utilizes Powder Turn Rocker that allows for the maximum flotation when you’re cruising through the deep stuff. Low camber still lets you carve easily when you hit the groomers, so you won’t find yourself sliding everywhere out of control. On the other side of things the Experience 88 uses Rossignol’s Auto Turn Rocker with significantly more camber, delivering a more “traditional” carving feel that’s versatile in a wide variety of conditions.

Where the Experience 88 and Soul 7 come together is with the introduction of a new technology that Rossignol is calling “HD.” HD consists of a Carbon Alloy Matrix that blends carbon fiber and basalt into a diagonal weave, resulting in elastic movement and dynamic mobility. Glass stringers help to reduce vibration and balance the flex. The result is a never-before-seen combination of damp edge grip and playful maneuverability.

If this all sounds great to you, perhaps you should come on down to Granite Chief and check them out for yourself. We’ve actually got next year’s models on sale right now! But you’d better get here fast. If history serves, these bad boys won’t be around for too long.
